Environment high on the Agenda in Draft Shire Strategies

The Augusta Margaret River Shire’s Draft Community Strategic Plan 2036 has recently been out for final community comment and has strong environmental themes. Following a year of workshops, Councillors met in August to finalise a draft plan. Our representative on the working group, Chair Boyd Wykes reported back that sustaining our environmental and social values was of highest priority for all participants from the outset. And that this is reflected in a very positive strategy. The draft plan has recently been available for public comment and will be finalised over the coming months.

The Shire’s Draft Environmental Elements of Sustainability Strategy has also recently been out for community with the submission period closing on Friday 15 September. The strategy follows on from an earlier issues paper and is intended as basis for investment of the Shire’s recently extended Environmental Management Fund.
