Bequests
Leave a gift in your Will
A legacy of care
Leaving a gift in your Will to Nature Conservation Margaret River Region is a heartfelt way to keep caring for this place long into the future. It’s a way to honour your connection to the forests, coastlines, rivers, wildlife and communities that make the Margaret River region so special — and to ensure the work you value continues.
The Margaret River region sits within one of just 36 Global Biodiversity Hotspots – a designation reserved for irreplaceable, rare and unique ecosystems that are also under grave threat. Our region faces growing pressure from habitat loss, invasive species, climate change and increasing visitation. A gift in your Will (called a bequest) becomes part of the long, shared effort to protect this landscape — supporting bushland restoration, coastal care, citizen science, community programs and hands-on education for local students.
We have a proven track record of making every dollar count, with a long history of delivering high-impact conservation outcomes through efficient, community-driven work. Every gift – no matter how small or large – helps strengthen the health, resilience and future of the region you love. It’s a lasting gesture of hope and stewardship.
Types of gifts
Residual gift
A residual bequest is what remains after specific gifts have been distributed and expenses have been settled. It’s often the most impactful way to give, as its value naturally adjusts with your estate.
Percentage gift
Leaving a percentage of your estate ensures your gift maintains its intended proportion, regardless of changes to your financial situation.
Specific amount
You may choose to leave a set amount. This is straightforward, though you may wish to revise it over time to reflect changing circumstances.
Land, property or assets
Some supporters prefer to gift land, shares or other assets. If you are considering this type of bequest, we welcome a conversation so we can understand your wishes and ensure your contribution supports conservation in a meaningful way.
Testimonials
Hearing from others can bring comfort and clarity. Here is a message from long-time volunteer, supporter and bequestor MILES DURAND:
Miles said his decision was driven by both optimism and urgency.
“I’m an optimist — I really believe we can make a big difference,” he said.
“But there needs to be more support for groups like Nature Conservation. Bequests like this, from me and from others, are one way to help make that difference.”
