About Us

Nature Conservation Margaret River Region is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation. We work to combine the grassroots support of the community with sound conservation science and pragmatic policy initiatives to achieve sustainable environmental outcomes.

First established in 2002 as the Cape to Cape Catchments Group with a focus on waterway health, our organisation has grown to encompass the protection of all biodiversity values in the Margaret River region.

Priority focus

Our two pillars of focus are:

Wooditjup Bilya (Margaret River)

We coordinate and deliver a range of education programs, meaningful on-ground work and advocate for the health and environmental values of the Margaret River and its catchment. 

Caring for the Capes

We coordinate and deliver a range of education programs, meaningful on-ground work and advocate for the health and environmental values of the Capes region from Yallingup to Augusta, and including the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, adjoining coastline, privately owned land, remnant bushland and reserves.

Across all our programs, we strive to protect and restore biodiversity and build resilience to disturbance and pressures like climate change.

The healthier and more connected our ecosystems are, the better they will be able to respond and adapt to climate change.

Conserve and improve the extent and condition of remnant native vegetation and wildlife

Work with all stakeholders to manage the Margaret River to protect its environmental values

Provide leadership in coastal protection and restoration

Work with land and water managers to maintain water quality and environmental flows

Engender respect and custodianship of our natural environment by all people that live and visit here
